About Peter

I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. After attending Wheaton College as an English Major, I moved to NYC for graduate school where I received my MFA in figurative painting from The New York Academy of Art. During my four years in NYC, I worked as an ice-sculptor, art-handler, and theoretical-scientific illustrator. From 2006-2009 I taught art classes at Wheaton College, Dordt College, and Judson University. I am currently a portrait painter and live in Centralia, WA. Some of my recent projects include permanent artwork for Reality Church, Olympia, WA, murals for Northwest Pediatrics, Centralia, WA, leading a workshop on painting genre scenes from photographs, in conjunction with the Norman Rockwell show at the Tacoma Art Museum, and giving private art lessons. I love long-distance running, watching TV, reading, and writing. I'm also learning astronomy, Tae KwanDo, and chess.
